Hockey analytics for coaches and scouts

Short answer

Coaches and scouts get faster answers when league data, tracking, video exports and scouting sheets share one player ID in a database the club owns. The Hockey Brain connects the sources you already pay for (Planned / Exploring — nothing live yet), keeps a catalog of what you own, and delivers tables to Power BI, Excel, Streamlit or Claude instead of replacing your tools.

What you actually get

Not another dashboard you must live in. Matched tables in infrastructure the club controls: raw loads from each provider, an identity layer (one player ID with native IDs preserved), and analysis-ready marts plus a data catalog that states source, freshness, coverage and quality flags.

  • Your keys and licences — we do not resell Elite Prospects, Sportlogiq, Hudl or any other feed
  • EU-hosted processing and a dedicated club database you can export anytime
  • Destinations staff already open: Power BI, Excel, Google Sheets, Streamlit, Claude via MCP (all Planned)

How it helps coaching decisions

Line and unit questions — who drives entries, who bleeds high-danger chances against, how special teams looked over the last stretch — stop dying in separate spreadsheets. When box scores, tracking and video tags share one ID, a coach can ask for the same player across tools without an analyst rebuilding joins before every meeting.

How it helps scouting decisions

Cross-league lists and call-ups break when names and IDs disagree. Matching keeps Elite Prospects, tracking and internal sheet identities on one row so a scout can compare notes to on-ice events without guessing which “J. Andersson” is which. Edge cases still need human review — the pipeline flags them instead of silently merging the wrong people.

What we will not claim

We do not invent win probabilities, draft grades or fabricated season stats. We do not claim connectors are live. Founding clubs for 2026/27 decide which Planned sources ship first. The free stack map is the starting point: thirty minutes on which tools you pay for and which questions coaches and scouts still answer by hand.

No connector is live yet. The Hockey Brain lists every named product as Planned or Exploring — intended compatibility only, not a partnership.

Frequently asked questions

Do coaches have to leave the video tool they already use?

No. Hudl and similar tools stay in the workflow. Exports or Planned connectors feed the owned database; staff keep tagging and reviewing video where they do today.

Can scouts use Excel only?

Yes. Matched tables can refresh into Excel or Google Sheets. Claude/MCP is optional and uses the club’s own AI account when you want it.

Is this available now?

Early access only. No connectors are live. Three founding-club places for 2026/27; the stack map is free whether or not you continue.
