PDO

The sum of a team’s shooting percentage and save percentage, used as a rough indicator of luck that tends to regress toward 100.

PDO adds on-ice shooting percentage and save percentage (each as a whole number). Over a full season it tends to settle near 100 for most teams.

A team far above or below 100 is often riding or fighting variance, so PDO is a quick sanity check on whether recent results are sustainable rather than a skill metric.
