HDCFScoring chances from the most dangerous areas of the ice (typically the slot), where shots convert at much higher rates.
High-danger chances are shot attempts from the areas closest to the net where the probability of scoring is highest — roughly the slot between the faceoff dots.
Tracking high-danger chances for and against separates teams that generate volume from those that generate genuine quality, and it correlates strongly with expected goals.
