Corsi

CF%

A shot-attempt metric counting all shots on goal, missed shots and blocked shots, used as a proxy for puck possession.

Corsi counts every shot attempt — on goal, missed, or blocked — for and against a team while a player is on the ice. Corsi For % (CF%) is a team’s share of total attempts.

Because attempts are far more frequent than goals, Corsi stabilizes quickly and is a useful proxy for which team controls play, though it treats a slap shot from the blue line the same as a slot chance.
