Using the Elite Prospects API in Excel, Sheets and Power BI
Short answer
Your club uses its own Elite Prospects API key (scopes and regions per your EP agreement), lands roster and stats tables in a database it owns, then refreshes Excel, Google Sheets or Power BI from those tables. Elite Prospects attribution requirements still apply when you publish derived work.
Your API key, your scopes
Elite Prospects access is tied to the club’s licence and API key. The Hockey Brain never uses another club’s key. Keys are stored encrypted in a secrets manager — not in spreadsheets or email.
Into your database first
Direct Excel plugins are fragile at scale. The durable pattern is: EP API → raw tables in the club database → matched player/season marts → Excel or Power BI refresh. That is also how you combine EP with Sportlogiq or scouting sheets on one player ID.
Attribution
When EP data appears in reports or exports, follow Elite Prospects attribution rules (e.g. “Data provided by EliteProspects” where required). The catalog records which columns originated from EP for audit.
No connector is live yet. The Hockey Brain lists every named product as Planned or Exploring — intended compatibility only, not a partnership.
Frequently asked questions
Does The Hockey Brain provide Elite Prospects data?
No. We connect using your club’s licence; we are not a data reseller.
Can we combine EP with Sportlogiq in one Excel file?
Yes, once both sources are matched to one player ID in your database — that is the integration problem we solve.
Connector status?
Elite Prospects is Planned. No live connector yet.
